Well, this took waaay too long in getting done, but I finally found the sketch, coloured it with pencil crayons and added in enough digital tinkering to make it passable as art. >.<

I'm usually not a fan of the dodge tool on the skin, but used this way, in can give a nice and desired effect

I admit that 'dodge/Lighten RGB' isn't really the best looking way to get lighting effects on skin but it comes in handy when you're really late with a piece and are 'colouring' with a trackball mouse.

So cute! Something bothers me about the chin/neck area though, character looks a bit stiff... texturing on the sweater is pretty cool. Great use of highlights!

Thanks; Paintshop and Pencils go rather nicely together. Sometimes. The clasp was in his description though; I can't take credit for creating that amazingly symbolic piece.
